Brett Cimo, Owner of Cimo Productions, is one of my favorite Videographers in the Houston Area for many reasons: talent, professionalism, and price.  Basically he's the whole package!

Brett recently agreed to record the first-ever Jour L'Amour advertisement and we had a chance to chat about the importance of hiring a Videographer.  I had two brides come to me recently who regret not hiring one.  The first bride's husband was deployed overseas and sadly he never made it back.  She told me she wished she could hear his voice again and regretted not having a video of his vows to watch them pledge their eternal love to each other.  The other bride told me that her 5-year-old daughter asked about their wedding day and she realized she didn't remember every little detail as she thought she would and could only show pictures to her daughter.  She regretted not thinking about her future children on her wedding day because she really wished she could have a video to show them.

A friend of mine recently got married, too, and told me they decided not to hire a videographer because if they messed up their vows, they didn't "want evidence." Nearly 99% of couples "mess up" a word here or there, but that's part of the whole experience.  You're not actors that are expected to nail your lines.  You are both likely nervous and excited about this moment and it's expected that a word or two will be stumbled upon.  When you compare this to the previous two examples, it seems silly - almost ridiculous.

We all know hind-sight is 20/20.  I can't encourage you enough to be a forward-thinker in this case and consider the pricelessness of this moment.  You can never get it back and I am of the belief that it's better to have it and not need it than to want it and not have it.

Brett has provided his top 5 expert tips just for Jour L'Amour!  You should make sure the Videographer you're considering...

1. Has a website or blog - This is where he/she will highlight their work and showcase their expertise.

2. Will work with your budget - If your budget is tight and you're looking to cut costs, videography is not where you want to cut.  You can find a Videographer to work within your budget so that you do capture this most important day so you can relieve the experience for years to come and share it with your children and friends & family that weren't able to make it.

3. Has a good personality - He/She may interact with your friends and family and you want to make sure no one is offended or "creeped out."

4. Has good video and audio equipment - These days HD and BluRay are important, but also make sure you ask about back-up plans & extra equipment just in case something happens.

5. Has everything put in a contract - Be sure you thoroughly review the contract and if something is missing, have it added in before signing.
